Clinton Portis' Knee Still Issue

Ladell Betts is the back to get in Washington. I believe it more every day.

Portis getting his knee examined

The Redskins play at Tennessee Saturday night but Clinton Portis (knee tendinitis) will not play. The Washington Post reports: "Running back Clinton Portis said there is no timetable for when he could be back at practice, and though his sore knee is responding well to treatment, he does not know much on-field work he would be able to take next week. [Coach] Gibbs said Portis is doing well and will travel with the team to Tennessee, where he will be examined by orthopedist James Andrews." It's usually not a good thing when Doc Andrews has to take a look at your knee. We'll know more soon. In the meantime Portis drops a couple notches on the MVP Board. He was already reduced to fantasy RB2 status and now he's a risky one at that.

The Portis/McNabb Syndrome

Portis is still going off the shelf in the second round of drafts, even today. He was on my Do Not Draft list when I was drafting in July, and he's still there. Last week, I bumped up Betts as a good sleeper candidate on my draft board. Betts is going in double digits rounds even though he was 11/12 in standard scoring leagues last year.

Now I wonder, if I were to check all my leagues, would I find Portis and McNabb on the same rosters?

I read this in a Fantasy Mag once, but it bears repeating: The early rounds are for sure things. Period.
