This blog's not exactly widely read material in Chicago, I'm sure, but I have to be fair to Benson. I mentioned it appeared he was a dumb fart for, if nothing else, resisting arrest. Now it seems at least two witnesses are holding up his side of the story that the authorities used excessive force.
Hey, I wasn't there, so I don't know what happened. Police have shown a lack of professionalism a time or two, I admit, but on the other hand, I have a hard time believing some boating cop decided it'd be fun to mace and rough up Chicago's running back without some provocation.
There's certainly enough doubt on the official story that it appears the Bears are going with the status quo for now, as would I.
I still think Matt Forte has an excellent opportunity to grab a starting tailback gig behind a pretty decent offensive line.
