Top Drafted QBs

I 'watched' some of the draft and read some about it, but I'm still a long way from digesting it. That said, here are my notes on QBs:

Atlanta
– Matt Ryan. Assuming that Glenn Dorsey ia all that and assuming Brian Brohm, Chad Henne or Joe Flacco are almost as good as Ryan, I would rather have seen the Birds take Dorsey and then take a QB at the top of second. Atlanta obviously thought Ryan was a cut above the other QBs in this year’s or next year’s.

Packers – brought in Culpepper. Drafted Brian Brohm in the 2nd. Rodgers was a 1st round pick in 2005. Pack also took Matt Flynn in the 7th. They also have Jerry Babb and Dalton Bell, neither with an NFL pass to their name. Sound a little nervous to me, but Rodgers has looked good in limited playing time. He was 20 of 28 last year for 218 yards, a TD and no INTs. Small sample size, but nice sample.

Ravens – Drafted Joe Flacco, trading up to get him in the first. I never heard his name until the combine but I assume NFL scouts know how to research players and the Ravens weren’t the only team high on Flacco.

Miami drafted Chad Henne in the 2nd to compete with John Beck – a 2nd round pick last year – and Josh McCown. Miami also drafted LT Jake Long.

Minnesota drafted John David Booty in the 5th to compete with Tarvaris Jackson. I think the Vikes are more hoping that Booty is a steal than they are worried about Jackson.

The Mustard: They’re rookie QBs. Don’t count on them this year and probably not next. I might gamble on Rodgers or Jackson to keep their starting jobs and put up respectable numbers. Of the two, I think Rodgers has the better chance to be a top 12 QB because of the players around him.
